Colleagues of the Greater Washington District,

Pastor Cindy and I are working with DC Public Schools providing school supply support. We are currently running an afterschool program with Capitol Village Public Charter School and West Educational Campus. We are currently supporting almost 100 young scholars in Title-One educational communities. We are providing educational equity and justice by providing quality educational support to the “least of these” in our district. Can you help us?

Virtual learning in the Covid-19 pandemic is exposing what we have already known. Children and families in the Greater Washington District are struggling. There is not only a digital divide, there a financial divide that is widening the gulf in our educational communities. Many of our parents are switching from full-time to part-time opportunities in order to support their children during virtual learning. Our students, more than ever, need crucial supplies. Can you help us?

We are collecting.

  • #2 Pencils
  • Notebook
  • Crayola Crayons (24 pack) and or (8 pack)
  • Erasers
  • Sharpeners
  • Highlighters
  • Protractors
  • Rulers
  • Lined notebook paper
  • Crayola Markers (8 Pack)
  • Crayola Colored Pencils (12 Pack)
  • Prang Watercolor (8 color set)

We will be assembling these packets on December 12, 2020 for distribution in January. Believe it or not, January will be the most ideal time to provide these materials. We encourage your church to donate supplies or monetary donations. This is an amazing opportunity for our district to show our support to our community. We will be assembling and storing these materials at Van Buren United Methodist Church (35 Van Buren St NW, Washington, DC 20012) and items can be dropped off and mailed there. We will list in detail, all the church participants of this initiative. We are excited about your potential participation. We thank you in advance.
